My personal goal is to imprint my mark by knowing that to travel to Sri Lanka has brought you a joy.
I started working for a travel agency in Egypt, Jordan and Israel more than ten years ago. First, as an animator, but I tried to learn their history quickly, so I can start doing what was closest to my heart, and it was guiding.
After three years, I decided to start on my own. I had a desire to show people these destinations, also to introduce Arab culture in depth, from the perspective of local residents. I lived in Jordan in the desert with Bedouin tribe Al Mousa, the most esteemed among the Bedouin family. They showed me that Arabs can be totally different from what is written about them in heart-breaking novels, newspapers and tabloids. With the permission of the tribe, I showed to my clients the world behind the scenes, life in the wilderness of Arab families and also that even though Bedouins are not the richest people, theyeat and live happily.
Then I got an opportunity to go and work on Ceylon. My first experience I gathered was at the local tourist office. I was guiding their clients all over the island, which offered a wealth of experiences, but my travel agency was always offering the same and only round tour, in which clients could see only thestandard tourist sightseeing and nothing more. Additionally they complained that they did not know a lot of information before their arrival, and that if they could talk to someone, who was in Sri Lanka before, the tour would look different.
I could only confirm, because the pay is not so great in Czech travel agencies, so the staff is changing constantly, and you can find only a few, who are genuinely interested in Sri Lanka and their retailers visited the island a few times and know that Sri Lanka is not only Kandy, Sigiriya and the Yala National Park.
For those who are looking forward to their holidays, it is important to know, that we know where to send you, that your accommodation has a value, that we wouldn’t send you somewhere where we would not slept ourselves and this can guarantee only someone who lives here and know her/his product perfectly.
I said to myself, that people will enjoy their holiday more, if they get all information from someone who lives in Sri Lanka and not from someone, who only travel in organized groups. Someone, who can get ona bus and find your way around the island itself. So I got on a bus, and traveled around the whole island and then I started writing about all destinations. I wrote about recipes, tips for traveling, what to pack for the journey, what to leave out and what not to miss.
I started getting responses from the Czechs and Slovaks for sightseeing tours to show them the places that are worth of visit. And so the idea to start my own travel agency was born. Agency, which will prepare tailor made tours. We have worked on and still pay attention to each client separately and tryto set up tours which are designed according to their requirements. I always add something from my own experience like places that you will not find in the classic tours, meeting with local people who live hidden on tea plantations or deep in the woods or eating local food, which specializes in the region.
We are also helping to people in need especially to children who do not have a chance at a good education. Also to animals, who have to survive in a poor condition. We are part of an association forthe protection of animals in Sri Lanka, helping to return an elephants from captivity into the wild and so on.
Our goal is to make everyone who visit this island satisfied and leave with a lot of experience, which they will never forget. These may be hidden on a tea plantation, in the train, during meetings with ordinary people or in their cup of delicious tea.
